New Horizons is proud to be affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC).  Some of the following reasons are as follows:

Autonomous - The SBC and it's agencies are there to support the local churches in fulfilling the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20).  This denomination, unlike many others, is not a hierarchy and does not tell the church what to do.  Each local church is free to govern themselves as they feel God leading them.

Biblical Based - The SBC upholds God's written word, the Bible, as the standard to base all teaching and truth.

Missions - The SBC has the largest and most efficient missions organization.  Each SBC church voluntarily gives money in cooperation with each other to send out missionaries, support Christian schools, hospitals, disaster relief teams, feed the hungry, support existing churches, start new churches, and much, much more!  This is known as the Cooperative Program.  New Horizons is honored to be a small part of something big.  

Accountability - The SBC, although not perfect, is recognized as a reputable mainline denomination.  It has been around for over 150 years.  They maintain the basic beliefs found in Christianity.  Although they do not tell the local church what to do, they will raise concerns if a church begins to teach or practice non-Christian values.

Support - The SBC and it's agencies were very helpful in starting New Horizons.  They helped finance our Pastor's education and have continued to support New Horizons with financial support, resources, training and personnel.
